dog fighting and football. old friends and money, no allegiances simply along for a ride. a free ride. rolling over like the dogs you kill, talking without loyalty the minute the tables turn. there is power in money, but it's never an absolute.
prepared food has become a fantasy. marketing makes low grade food look like the finest cuisine in the world. the constant barrage of mouth watering images with low prices is working to brainwash all of society. the art of cooking is marginalized, it has become reality tv fodder with a screaming chef berating his ilk. cooking shows either make it look so easy, with all the items prepared before time or so hard that no one can do it, even with prior training. This all adds to the loss of the home made dinner, and with it the increase in obesity since all of the fast foods, frozen dinners, pre-made consumables have added preservatives, chemicals, and sugar substitutes. making money is the number one priority, corporations are not concerned with your health, nor should they be. they are out to make the most money that they possibly can, which means cutting as many corners are possible. it is up to the consumer to choose properly, to be educated about what you are ingesting and what your children are exposed to. the lack of responsibility has reached epic proportions throughout all levels of humanity. get a clue.
mediocrity, illusion and brown nosing stand up better then truth and real work. people are threatened by strength but indifferent to mediocrity. hearing you are right is easier then hearing you are wrong. yes has a nicer ring then no.

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

“In its main features the Declaration of Independence is a spiritual document. It is a declaration not of material but spiritual conceptions. Equality, liberty, popular sovereignty, the rights of man—these are not elements which we can see and touch. They are ideals. They have their source and their roots in religious convictions. They belong to the unseen world. Unless the faith of the American people in these religious convictions is to endure, the principles of our Declaration will perish. We cannot continue to enjoy the result if we neglect and abandon the cause. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just power from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth and their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress.” —Calvin Coolidge

Fourth of July! This deserves a recap of the past few weeks. Concerts. 1. nine inch nails concert at jones beach. trent rocked again, it was cold and I had to buy an overpriced long sleeve nin shirt to keep from turning into icey flesh. I swear this time no more jones beach for concerts! i mean it! really! 2. madonna at the garden. 80% homosexual crowd, tons of transexuals et all. a little surprising at the huge ratio of gay to straight at first untill I realized the entire concert was a giant gay dance party which includes her new album that is all gay disco music! but everyone was cool, the gay couple from england on our left were fun, but also shot down our idea of traveling to london next year since they basically said we need to bring just short of a fortune. Madonna still has it, put on a good show but she decided air conditioning is no good for her voice, leaving us all sweating to the point of collapse. thanks madonna! silly stuck up brat Yankees. Went to Old Timer's day at the stadium last weekend, and it rained forever. So we didn't get to see much, but we were under the cover of the roof so it didn't bother us much. We are getting 2 free games because of the poor weather and lack of either an Old timers game or a real baseball game so that works out. Television. earlier that day I was waiting for new TV to arrive. another of my famous impulse purchases. I always buy open box televisions since they give you some crap 60 day warranty for brand new ones anyway so what's the difference. I saw this huge plasma tv near the door on the way out and it was marked really cheap. it had these little bubbles burnt onto the bottom of the screen but it wasn't that noticable. so i got it for the cheapest they would give it. I tried to put it into the car but not realizing its HUGE and you have to keep it upright. After a few attempts I had to pay to get it delivered. Best $55 i ever spent. They came two days later with a BRAND NEW in box television, not the messed up one. So I got a brand new television for over half off. it's beautiful. Food. I've eaten more lobster then anyone should in 2 days. Had huge lobsters, corn, and baked potato saturday. The sunday had lobster bisque with lunch. Sunday night went to my dads for dinner and he made guess what? Baked lobster. I'm lobstered out. Today for Fourth of July we're having filet mignon on the grill, also have burgers, and hot dogs. Excercise. Nordictrack closed all of their stores, so they were giving out their equipment at steep discounts. After much hassle and back and forth we ended up with a new treadmill and eliptical for great prices. Now we have something to counter all of this food we've been eating! Sirius. Once again sirius comes through. Satelite radio really is the best thing ever. They have Depeche mode all weekend nonstop on their first wave channel. It's awesome and I've been listening to it constantly, it's so nice knowing no matter what time it is you can turn on the radio and hear music you want to. Superman. This movie was really good. I hated Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, but Brandon Routh played superman perfectly, he really fit the part brilliantly. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors but I didn't love him as Lex Luthor, not his fault but I think the part lacked a lot and didn't give him much to work with. I'm also partial to Hackman's performance in the Christopher Reeve movies (which I love). The movie runs too long, but I still thought it was entertaining. Everyone seems to have seen Devil wears Prada, which I was told is really good and I plan on watching. I think Meryl Streep is a great actress, I love her in The Deer Hunter. Have a happy and safe Fourth, I'll be shooting up some fireworks rain or shine! Current Mood: happy Current Music: 96 hours of depeche mode!

wow. my ears are still ringing, and my arms are sore from rockin out babbbyyyy! saturday we saw depeche mode at jones beach, on a dreary, windy, rain threatened day. dave gahan has larangitis and canceled the show before ours, but he still came out for us and did his best with his less then strong voice. overall it was a great performance, the highlight for me was actually martin doing "shake the disease" in a cool really slow rendition. spent mothers day with my mom, saw flight 93, which I don't have too many comments about and ate some good chinky food. then the big "guns" came out sunday night. arriving at hammerstein ballroom at 8:50 I parked in the usual right next to the venue overpriced but worth it parking garage. Coming out of the garage we were greeted with an immediate line, and after reading about Friday's show I knew this wouldnt be good. So we went down to the end of the block and got in line. It looked worse then it was, since we unknowingly got there at a good time when the line was moving well. Cops were sneaking around and grilling everyone and since most people were brown baggin it in the line, they passed out plenty of public drinking tickets. We got in after a heavy frisking and the opener Bullet for my Valentine was on. They were some metal go crazy band that made a lot of noise. After they got off the "dj mix" they played had the whole place very amped, you could tell there was some terrific energy in the building. A short period of time after we got some drinks we saw Mickey Rourke come in and go into the lower VIP area with some skinny model chick. His face is all f'd up, but it was still cool to see him. He walked right by us to go to the bar and get some drinks. Also in attendance was Fred Durst, Lenny Kravitz, Shannon Elizabeth, Jimmy Fallon, Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik and some California skanky model types. The lights went down around 10:50 and the oh so famous chords rang out, the crowed went insane, and we were in the jungle babyyyyyy. The set went along smoothly, Axl's voice was the best I ever heard. The energy and fans were awesome, the band was great, and Axl talked alot, my favorite part being "We had people screamin' their heads off Friday, but you guys are kickin' the shit out of them! Happy Mother's Day, motherfuckers!" Sebastian Bach came on as expected to do My Michelle and he was real excited, Axl thanked him for saving him, since he introduced him to his voice coach after fuckin up his voice Friday night. Set: Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Rocket Queen, Dizzy Reed Piano Solo/The Blues, Live And Let Die, Robin Guitar Solo, Knockin' On Heaven's Door (with sing a long), Better, You Could Be Mine, Robin Solo, Sweet Child O' Mine, Out Ta Get Me, Bumblefoot Solo/November Rain, Chinese Democracy, My Michelle (with Sebastian Bach), Patience, Richard Solo/Nightrain Encore: Robin Solo/Paradise City Notes: Show began at 10:50pm EST. Axl said he had completely lost his voice Saturday, everything was gone, but Sebastian Bach pointed him to a vocal and throat expert and that it saved the day. He said he was freaked out because he wouldn't be able to do the show if he voice never came back. He talked about Chinese Democracy. Said the fans can hold our breath longer than David Blaine (a magician who tried a magic trick underwater last week and failed) and Axl appreciated that. According to Axl, Bumblefoot just joined a week prior to the show. Axl dedicated the show to Sebastian Bach (for saving the day) and Beta (because it was mother's day). Axl said they (himself and Tommy) were both saying "I am so sick of you" to each other just a few days ago but then he said that at the show they were having a blast together. and here are the pics: Flickr photo albumTags: gnr Current Mood: tired Current Music: gnr "better" bootleg
